  • This ANNE is figured on the tombe kneeling, with the Spelman arms / of plates all over her gown, and so in the great east window / of the chancell / From the Stanbridge entry in the CXVIII Weever’s funerall monuments p 658: All that now remains is the exquisitely carved niche on the / east respond of the north arch. This is the only place where / bound onto, the esquires helm by the torse, the family crest / a rose bush in flower, can be seen. The tomb had been removed / by 1878 [the organ was installed in 1903] its arcade is illustrated / in the female portrait of CHRISTINA HARTISHORN, the wife of EDWARD / and mother of HENRY. It was originally made prior to 1505 / with an addition before 1531 of the effigy of ANNE. The window / also antedates 1531 but the portrait of ANNE SPELMAN is not there /
