STAMBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL

The first meeting of 2025 took place on Thursday, 23rd January 2025 at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. There were 4 members of the public present.

Mrs Vanessa Young has stepped down from the Parish Council. Vanessa has been a parish councillor for many years and made a valuable contribution to the Parish Council. We would like to thank Vanessa for her contribution over many years and wish her well for the future.

Pavilion

Some minor repairs and maintenance are needed, and these should be completed in time for re-opening in the spring.

Playing Field

Stambourne Playing Field

The entrance from the car park onto the grass will be moved to allow the damaged area to be repaired and given time to recover. This work will take place as soon as it is dry enough underfoot. We are also looking into replacing a piece of the play equipment which will only be possible with grant funding. Applications for this open in the new financial year.

Highways

Potholes are a continuing issue in and around the village. As ever anyone can report highway problems into Essex County Council at essex.gov.uk and follow the links.

Community Speed Watch

In the last newsletter we reported that Wendy Anderson had kindly offered to co-ordinate setting up a Community Speed Watch Scheme. At the moment 8 people have come forward, however Wendy needs 10.

Planning

Braintree District Council local plan review – please see the document below from Braintree District Council for information.

ST. PETER & ST. THOMAS BECKET PARISH CHURCH

Stambourne Church in the snow

Although some time ago now, a big thank you to all who helped, decorated, read, prepared refreshments, etc. at the Carol Service on 8th December 2024.

There were 30 in the congregation, which was quite a bit down on previous years, so any suggestions for how you would like the Carol service for December 2025, please let me know.
