STAMBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL

The latest meeting of the Parish Council took place on Thursday, 19th July September at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.  There were 5 members of the public present.

Pavilion

A new fire alert alarm will be installed in the Pavilion as part of the fire safety review.

Playing Field

It has been agreed that the wooden climbing frame will be removed completely and replaced with a new piece of equipment, subject to funding. This climbing frame has reached the end of its useful life.

Stambourne Playing Field

Members of the public attended the meeting to ask for dogs to be allowed on the Playing Field. The Parish Council have always maintained that no dogs should be on the Playing Field as it is a children’s play area.

However, following a discussion, the Parish Council would be interested to hear from you with any opinions on this proposal. No decision has been made at this stage and the area will continue to be dog free.

Highways

As ever there are a number of potholes in the area and further afield. These can be reported to ECC Highways at essex.gov.uk/highways and follow the links. Work has been taking place on the Yeldham Road in recent days.

Footpaths

We have been informed about a broken footbridge on footpath Stambourne 1. This has been reported into Essex County Council but please take care if you are using this path. There has also been an application to divert footpath Stambourne 24 which the Parish Council has no objection to.

STAMBOURNE CONGRETIONAL CHURCH

It has been some time since the Congregational Church has contributed to the newsletter.

We now have a new leadership team and the Church is set for an exciting new era.

We have begun by clearing out years of accumulated and unwanted items. Things like rusty old chairs and out of date paperwork. We have appointed a contractor to re-build our kitchen and this should be complete by the end of October. This will enable us to once again offer meals to those in need.

We intend to bring back many of the events that we have been unable to do for a few years like film or games nights.

Our first new event is “Craft and Chatter“. We will revive coffee mornings on Tuesdays 10am – 12pm and include “Craft and Chatter” on the first Tuesday of each month starting in November. If you are interested in card making or other crafts feel free to join us on these days.

You would also be most welcome to join us any Tuesday 10am – 12pm for a relaxing time of friendly chatter and a hot drink.

Our Sunday services take place every Sunday at 10.45am. We have a mix of old and new songs and often have visiting speakers and musicians.

If you think that Church is dull and old fashioned why not give us a try? We might just change your mind.

If you would like to know more feel free to contact our secretary on 01376 345 337.

God bless,

Brian Mead
